EP74: Christina Rasmussen: My Year of Thinking Differently About Food

I’m solo on the podcast again this week and I’m sharing my thoughts and personal experience on a topic I wasn’t sure I should talk about. I almost didn't want to talk about this because I am not a nutritionist. I'm not a health coach or someone who has studied food in any way, but I am sharing this from my own perspective and my own understanding of food and nutrition and what it means to choose the food we want to eat.

This week, I’m talking about my personal experience of going vegan. It was a decision I made almost exactly a year ago and one that I get a lot of questions about. It’s also changed me in a profound way, well beyond just the food on my plate. Food and what we eat is a very personal experience and I wanted to share with you what changed for me and how this past year has gone. I have no agenda to change your diet one way or another, but simply to encourage you to pay attention, examine what you’re being told, and then ask yourself if it fits for you.

Imagine if we were just free to eat the way we want to eat. I encourage you to make decisions about what you're eating based on a conscious, aware experience versus what we have been told or what we think is expected of us.” (Click to tweet!)

I also talk about some new awareness this shift in eating has brought me around our self-image and how we connect what we eat to the way our body looks and the value we place on ourselves. I share with you the question that I now ask myself every morning about what I would like to eat, and it’s a question I encourage you to ask yourself each day as well. At the end of the day, this is your body in this physical reality we call the 3rd Dimension. You get to choose how to take care of it.

I hope that this episode, and my personal experience, gives you permission to put joy and intention back into the way that you eat and your relationship with food. I hope it encourages you to think about the choices you are making and asking yourself if they are still (or ever did) work for you. Imagine if we were just free to eat the way we want to eat. I’d love for you to comment below or continue the conversation on Instagram to let me know what you think and even share some of your experiences if you’re comfortable.
