EP84: Christina Rasmussen: It's Been A Hard Year

I’m solo on the podcast this week because I wanted to check-in with you as we head into the final days of what has been a deeply felt and unexpected year. I went into recording today’s episode thinking about you, and I’m wondering how you are feeling at the end of 2020? What is your life like? I’ve been wondering how you’ve had to change in the last few months? What was unbearable? What could I say to you today to make you hopeful for 2021?

This is not a pep-talk by the way. This is not about a happy ending and how it’s all going to work out. Because it’s not going to all work out the way that you think it should, it never does.

I know that you have struggled, not only because of the struggles that you have faced in your past but because of this added layer of loss has been added, just when you thought you couldn’t carry anymore. Your glass was empty, to begin with, wasn’t it? You didn’t think you could hold anything extra. Then, without any advanced notice, you were handed something new to hold and to carry. Something no one could have predicted

While I can’t promise happy endings I’m certain of two things. The first is that 2021 will bring with it less to be afraid of and more to be excited about. Secondly, you don’t need to do any more than you already have. Whatever has happened, or didn’t happen. You are where you need to be.

“You don’t need to do more than you already have. You’ve already done the best that you can, even if you don’t feel like you did. Wherever you are. Whatever happened or didn’t happen in your life this year, you are where you need to be. You are not falling behind and it’s not too late. ” (Click to tweet!)
