EP89: SARK: Grieving Deeply While Living Wildly

This week on the podcast, I’m happy to welcome Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy, also known as SARK. If you haven’t yet heard of SARK or been immersed in her magical world, you are in for a real treat! SARK truly creates magic wherever she goes and we started our conversation with me asking her about the first time she remembers using that word. Her answer was truly remarkable and caused me to guess that she was an illuminator and light bringer in a previous life as well, because she knew at such a young age what she wanted to be and do in this lifetime.

SARK has such a beautiful ability to use her work to alchemize the darkest moments of her life into light and illumination. She shares some of the dark moments from her early life and people that showed up in her life at the exact right moments and how her writing and illustrations allowed her to process some really hard topics. I remark on the last time I saw Susan in person and the 8ft tall crayon she carried around that day, it’s no exaggeration to say that she is truly unforgettable.

If you are someone that is looking for love later in life, this episode is for you! Susan very beautifully shares her experience of meeting her first love at the age 58. He was a widower when they met and she speaks candidly about her initial fears of dating a widower, and then how that evolved to embracing it and allowing it to add more layers and more love to their relationship.

Grief found Susan a few years later when John passed from cancer, and I do hope you will listen as she talks about her experience of grieving deeply while wildly living. It is my wish for you too. We talk about her new relationship with John since he left the physical world and her path to finding new love. I believe deeply that we’re here to love many times and in many ways in this life. We are very different people in each relationship, and Susan’s story is such a wonderful example of that.

“It is possible to grieve deeply and live wildly at the same time.” (Click to tweet!)
